Refreshing & Relaxing Foot Soak

During the day do you ever just think about going home to relax and soak your tired feet?

This foot soak recipe may just be what you are looking for. The combination of Eucalyptus, Lavender, and Sandalwood will help you relax while rejuvenate your aching feet.

Fresh & Relaxing Foot Soak

3 oz. Himalayan Salt

1 oz. Jojoba Oil (really a liquified wax)

10 drops Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)

19 drops Lavender (Lavendula augustifolia)

19 drops Sandalwood (Santalum album)

These oils were chosen for their relaxation and healing ability.

Why These Particular Carriers

Himalayan salt is detoxifying and really helps soften and smooth your skin. This is why salt scrubs have become so popular. I like to mix different grain sizes in my scrubs, but for just a soak you may want to use a finer grain.

Jojoba oil is used in many skincare products since it closely resembles the skin’s sebum. This carrier contains antioxidants and is very penetrating.

Remember, we must use a carrier oil even to bath/shower salts and foot soaks, otherwise the essential oils can be very irritating to the skin, especially when mixed with water.

Why These Particular Essential Oils

I chose Eucalyptus because it has analgesic (pain relieving), anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antispasmodic properties. This oil will help your feet feel energized. I personally put this essential oil in salves for me feet, prior to putting on socks and shoes. It really helps my feet feel refreshed during the day.

Lavender is also analgesic, inti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal. It also has antiallergenic and skin healing properties. Lavender is known to be relaxing and may really help you unwind after a long day. This is why it is a popular choice for linen sprays before bedtime. I chose this essential oil because it is a popular choice for many people. Personally, I do not like the aroma of Lavender, so if you are like me, then you can substitute Ylang Ylang (Cananga adorate var. genuine). Ylang Ylang is a very good relaxer and sedative, as well as being nourishing to your skin.

Sandalwood has many of the same therapeutic properties as Eucalyptus and Lavender. However, it also has antiviral, wound healing, and grounding properties. This essential oil is often used in foot massage blends. Sandalwood is also anti-anxiety while quieting the mind. So, this is a great addition to your foot soak.

How to Use

Mix the Himalayan Salt and Jojoba Wax together and add the essential oils. Mix well. I would store them in a PET or glass jar. It is best to store the jar in the refrigerator and take out a few minutes before use. This is because there are no preservatives in the blend. The refrigerator will help keep the blend fresh.

Put on some relaxing music, pour warm water into a bowl, add about a tablespoon of the mixture, put your feet in, close your eyes, take in the aroma, and relax.

If you like, you can take this scrub mixture with you when you get a pedicure.

Happy soaking!!
